What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is one of the most popular and highly effective teeth-straightening treatments available. Invisalign uses customizable plastic removable aligners to straighten your teeth. When considering Invisalign VS braces, you will find that Invisalign does not use wire and brackets to correct your teeth. The plastic used by Invisalign is FDA-approved and does not contain any harmful chemicals that may compromise your well-being.

Invisalign is uniquely designed to suit your individual needs. Following your initial consultation, we will create a mold of your teeth and use it to fit aligners. They should fit snugly and apply the correct pressure on your teeth. One of the advantages Invisalign has is that you can remove it to floss, brush, and eat.

The Invisalign Process

Invisalign uses the latest technology and advancements in the orthodontic field to align crooked teeth. The treatment uses custom-made aligners to straighten your teeth. These plastic aligner trays are smooth, comfortable, and almost invisible. The aligners fit over your teeth and can be removed when necessary. While they are on your teeth, they gently move your teeth into your desired position.

Aligners should be replaced every two weeks or so to consistently apply the correct amount of pressure to your misaligned teeth. We will monitor the progress of your teeth during the visits to change your aligners.

How Long Does Treatment Take?

Your alignment issues may differ from the next person. Therefore treatment duration can vary. Invisalign treatments typically last between 12-18 months. To start your process, schedule a consultation and discuss your concerns with us. We will advise a way forward using Invisalign.

How Often Do I Need to Wear My Aligners?

Wearing your aligners for the right amount of time per day will increase their effectiveness and shorten your treatment duration. They should be worn for at least twenty hours a day, every day, for effective results. When you remove your Invisalign aligners to eat, drink, brush, floss, or clean your aligners, they should be put back immediately to avoid your treatment being derailed.

How Do I Take Care of My Aligners?

Bacteria may build on your aligners while you sleep. It is crucial to remove and clean them every morning as you wake up and every night before going to sleep.

Each time you remove your Invisalign trays, rinse them. This prevents dry saliva and plaque from accumulating on your trays. You can even use antibacterial soap to keep them clean and clear.

Gently brush your aligners with a soft toothbrush to remove any plaque.

You should soak your aligners every day, either in a denture cleaner or Invisalign crystals. After soaking, use a spare brush to brush off any food particles or plaque, and make sure to rinse them before inserting them again.

Lastly, don’t forget to brush and floss your teeth before replacing your aligners. This will avoid the formation of cavities and other dental issues.

Am I a Good Candidate for Invisalign?

If you are looking for a treatment that will effectively correct the alignment of your teeth without visible metal braces, Invisalign is perfect for you. To determine your suitability further, schedule a consultation.

What Alignment Does Invisalign Correct?

Invisalign can treat many common orthodontic problems. If you suffer from the following, Invisalign can help you:

Underbite

An underbite is when your lower teeth protrude past your upper teeth.

Overbite

An overbite is much the opposite, where the upper teeth protrude from the lower teeth.

Open Bite

Open bite is when your teeth are not aligned properly while your jaw is closed.

Gapped Teeth

This is when you have visible gaps between two of your teeth.

Teeth Crowding

This is when your teeth are pressed together tightly but are not in a straight line.

Results With Invisalign

Invisalign is focused on gently moving your teeth into a more desired position. This movement happens gradually to avoid pain and damage to your gums and roots. Each tray that is placed on your teeth is designed to move them more into place. While the results that are seen may vary from person to person, some people may see results in just two weeks. Others may have to wait a few months to see any changes.
