His story starts here

The Kid From Choctaw

Dr. Bowman grew up in Fort Walton Beach, Kenwood Elementary, Pryor Middle, and Choctawhatchee High School, class of 1989. Today his Fort Walton Beach office sits in a stand-alone building right next door to Choctaw High, which means he treats kids who walk the same halls he did. Not many orthodontists can point out their old school from the parking lot.

Growing up on the Emerald Coast shaped everything: the ocean taught him patience and timing, and the community taught him that people remember how you treat them long after they forget what you charged.

The training

From Gator to Doctor, the Long Way, Done Right

After Choctaw, Dr. Bowman headed to the University of Central Florida and then the University of Florida, where he earned his bachelor's degree, was inducted into the National Honor Society, played club soccer, and surfed competitively in the National Scholastic Surfing Association. From there it was Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine, where he earned his DMD in 2003 and completed his Orthodontic Residency in 2005, both with Highest Honors.

That "Highest Honors, twice" detail matters less as a trophy and more as a habit: he's never been satisfied doing this work at anything short of his best.

Three Years in Air Force Blue

Fresh out of residency, Dr. Bowman spent three years as a United States Air Force orthodontist, first two years at Yokota Air Base near Tokyo, Japan, then as Chief of Orthodontic Services at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. Treating airmen and military families taught him to work with precision under real deadlines: PCS moves and deployments don't wait for treatment plans that drift.

That's why military families still get a special welcome here, Eglin and Hurlburt families are treated by someone who has lived that life.

How we serve military families
Why this practice exists

Denver Proved He Could. Home Proved He Should.

After the Air Force, Dr. Bowman spent five years in a Denver group practice, where he helped establish three additional offices. He learned how big, busy orthodontics runs, and decided he wanted the opposite: one doctor, one team, and patients who see the same board-certified orthodontist at every single visit.

So in 2013 he came home, partnering with Dr. Grace to carry on a Fort Walton Beach tradition of orthodontic care. Today he and his team serve families from Fort Walton Beach, Niceville, Destin, Navarre, Crestview, and across the Emerald Coast.

His philosophy

Orthodontics Is a Lot Like Surfing

You don't force the wave, you read it, wait for the right moment, and make your move with everything you've got. Dr. Bowman treats teeth the same way: no rushing biology, no drifting timelines. Just well-timed adjustments, made by the same hands, until the result is worth smiling about.

Find Him in the Water

“When I'm not traveling with my family, you'll find me surfing. The thrill of riding the waves, the serenity of the ocean, and the sense of freedom it brings are unmatched. Surfing isn't just a sport for me; it's a way of life that keeps me connected to nature and helps me stay healthy. The joy of catching the perfect wave, the challenge of mastering new techniques, and the peaceful moments between sets make surfing my true passion. It provides both excitement and tranquility, forming an essential part of who I am.”
