Clear Braces Vs Mini Diamond Braces

There used to be only one type of braces: the metal “railroad tracks.” Traditional metal braces are still the most common and widely-used type of braces. Patients, however, now have other choices.

Mini diamond braces

Mini diamond braces are made of stainless steel like the traditional braces, and they have the same wires and brackets arrangement.

The chief difference between traditional braces and mini diamond braces is size: mini diamond braces can be up to 30 percent smaller than the traditional metal braces.

They are therefore less visible and noticeable than are traditional braces. Mini diamond braces’ size also makes it easier for the patient to keep them clean.

Mini diamond braces are made of a stronger type of stainless steel than are traditional braces, so they are just as strong and effective as traditional braces, despite being smaller.

They therefore take the same amount of time to straighten teeth as traditional braces do.

Mini diamond braces put less pressure on the patient’s jaws, teeth and gums which means they are more comfortable to wear.

Clear braces

Clear braces resemble traditional metal braces, but the brackets are made of a clear or tooth-colored material that lets them blend in with the patient’s teeth. The wires can also be clear or ivory.

Clear braces debuted in 1987, and the early versions were vulnerable to stains and prone to breaking. While they have improved since then, they are still not as sturdy as metal braces.

Consequently, people who play sports should not get clear braces. Athletes who have any type of braces ought to protect them with a mouth guard.

Clear braces are also more expensive than metal braces, and they take longer to realign the patient’s teeth. They are also significantly larger than metal braces.

The ceramic brackets on the bottom front teeth might scrape against the upper front teeth while chewing, and that can damage tooth enamel.
